Guns N' Robin

Robin's plans caught everyone in Guns, as well as our fans, a bit off-guard. Really, Del James' private e-mail that someone took upon themselves to post publicly is the best way for us to address things at this time: "Only Robin knows what Robin's doing." Neither we nor management, etc., know any more in this regard and we prefer not to speculate or offer opinions at this time. Robin's Robin. We're in negotiations for the release of "Chinese Democracy" and things are going well. When we begin to put tour plans together, we'll see where things are. Until then, Robin's touring with NIN and we're working with management on our game plans. Our thanks to those who continue to show their support. Guns N' Roses

GN'R will not be appearing in any reality TV shows.

By Del James / GunsNRoses.com

"Despite rumors floating around the Internet, Guns N' Roses will not be appearing on any reality TV program to promote their forthcoming album, Chinese Democracy, or for any other reason. The reality TV rumors started a little while ago and have taken on an Internet life of their own, but there is no truth to any of this."

Bumblefoot Album Update

GN'R guitarist Ron Thal has posted the follwing update on his official forum:

"Heeeey, mixing is going well - having an easier time getting sounds, compared to the Normal CD. Much better guitar tone, more in-your-face this time around. (Planning to re-work my live sound for touring as well.) Taking a break from mixing tonight - gonna head out to the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, Long Island. Dizzy's playin' with Hookers N' Blow, gonna go hang. If you're around tonight, come hang too - I'll bring some Dr. Pepper..."

Press Release from Axl regarding Dr Pepper

Axl Rose has responded to Dr Pepper via the official GN'R website:

"We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album "Chinese Democracy," as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him. Axl Rose"

Where is Chinese Democracy album from Axl and Guns N' Roses?

By Mark: In December of 2006, Axl Rose released a statement of a "tentative release date" for Chinese Democracy on the 6th of March 2007. It was mentioned that concert shows in California had to be canceled in order to try and meet this release date. The statement also said that the band was going to do everything in its power to meet this date………. Well guess what year it is? yes it’s 2008! And guess what month it is? Yes it’s March. And at the time of writing this, its March 5th 2008, and yes tomorrow it will be March 6th 2008, a year on from that tentative release date. Still no official statement has been released from the Guns N Roses camp since December 2006 as to what is happening. All that has been released in recent weeks is speculation like any other year. Apparently the album is complete and it has been handed into Geffen, Universal or whoever is the label these days and that Axl is looking for more money to promote his album. It’s difficult to believe anything anymore relating to the name Guns N Roses. It’s almost like a brand name that has been torn apart. Everything that it has represented is diminishing the more time that passes. The only thing that keeps this name intact is the memory of what the original band was, the years of appetite, illusion’s and lies. All people hear these days about Guns N Roses, is an album release, it’s coming out….it’s coming soon….chicken coup’s,…..bucket head’s…..tentative release date’s…..most expensive album ever made….canceled shows….it’s finished but……Years pass by and nothing ever happens. It used to be so easy for Guns N Roses to make music, this was a band who used to create their greatest tunes over a few days. Yet this complex record just goes on and on. The question still remains though after 17 years without any original album. Where is Chinese Democracy? A little respect goes a long way with the fans. Its just common courtesy to say "look this is what is happening everyone." All that has been happening so far, is nothing but disrespect. Fans spend their hard earned money to make this band what it is, and all you get back in return is a lack of information. Time will tell whether this band is still relevant, purposeful or has any reason to be still around. To be frank about things, it’s gotten to the stage that people have either forgotten or do not really care anymore. It’s sad but it is fact.

Mick Wall Comments on Chinese Democracy

Tim Brouk of the Journal & Courier recently had an interview with the author of the 'W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose', Mick Wall. He comments:

'Rose has "50 or 60 tracks recorded, enough for three or four CDs" and those leaked online or on bootlegs have been well-received from GNR fans. "Officially put it out all online," Wall suggested. "Here it is. Take it or leave it. Then just move on. Put them out. It's a sign of madness that it has taken this long. It was kind of cool crazy in 2002 when he started to tour again. Now it's uncool crazy. "The tracks I've heard, a lot of it is really good but the whole mystique is wearing away."

Brian Ferry Insults Axl

The Independant  Newspaper (UK) reports: The reformed rock star Axl Rose cuts an eccentric figure these days, so much so that even Bryan Ferry will have a cheeky pop. The Guns 'n' Roses singer made an unexpected appearance at the chic Mayfair eaterie Le Caprice on Monday evening, where the following exchange was overheard between Ferry and a fellow diner.

Diner: "Did you know that Axl Rose is an anagram for Oral Sex?"

Ferry: "No I didn't. But did you know that the man is bald as a coot and wears hair extensions? He also wears a bandana to cover his bald crown."

Fortunately for Ferry, Rose was well out of earshot – which is just as well, when one considers his active role in ejecting unwanted members of a crowd. He was arrested in 1991 after sparking a riot in St Louis, when he leapt off the stage into the crowd to wrestle a camera from a fan. Rose was not available to comment last night.

Axl Rose Negotiating more money before releasing Chinese Democracy?

According to The Pulse of Radio, recent reports have indicated that GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy", is finished and the group's frontman W. Axl Rose is negotiating for more money with his record label before he will release the masters.

The ever-shifting GUNS N' ROSES lineup began working on "Chinese Democracy" sometime in the mid-'90s, and has reportedly spent $13 million recording the effort. Promised release dates in 2006 and 2007 did not materialize.

GUNS N' ROSES has only toured twice in the last 14 years: an aborted 2002 run that only lasted for a few shows, and a far more successful 2006 trek that took the latest lineup around the world.

Although Rose is considered one of rock's greatest frontmen, his sometimes irrational behavior onstage, reclusive lifestyle and notoriety for feuding with other rock stars has also earned him a reputation as one of rock's true eccentrics.

A Perfect Circle guitarist talks about his work on Chinese Democracy

The Pulse of Radio reports that ASHES DIVIDE, the new project fronted by A PERFECT CIRCLE guitarist Billy Howerdel, has launched its own YouTube channel at this location. An initial group of interviews between Howerdel and MTV personality Matt Pinfield has been posted at the site. In the exchanges, Howerdel discusses his musical upbringing, recording with A PERFECT CIRCLE, the assembly of the ASHES DIVIDE touring band and the inspiration behind some of the project's songs.

One little-known fact about Howerdel is that before forming A PERFECT CIRCLE with TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan in 2000, he spent several years working on the still-unreleased GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy". Howerdel told The Pulse of Radio what he contributed to the record. "I came in there initially to program some guitar sounds, and then wound up hitting it off with Axl (Rose, GUNS frontman), and then my job kind of migrated into the computer guy. I don't know what you would call me exactly. I kind of was there all night with Axl as he would work. The band came in during the day with a producer and would work most of the day, and then I would come in ten o'clock at night, say goodbye to those guys, Axl would show up later on, and then we'd do our thing all night and then do it the next day."....
